Dr. Shoukat graduated from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JMC), Aligarh. Inorder to pursue a career path in Gastroenterology, Dr. Shoukat enrolled at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar where he underwent rigorous training in MD (Internal Medicine) and DM (Medical Gastroenterology) courses. Post DM, Dr. Shoukat served for a period of one year at Jaswant Rai Speciality Hospital, Meerut before the commencement of his association with the present aforementioned hospital.

In terms of clinical skills, Dr. Shoukat is well-versed with diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP procedures that involve papillotomy, stone removal, dilatation of biliary strictures, placement of plastic and metallic stents for biliary obstruction techniques. He is proficient in diagnostic and therapeutic EUS concerning diagnostic FNA as well as therapeutic procedures like celiac plexus neurolysis. He exudes command over diagnostic and therapeutic Upper GI Endoscopy such as therapeutic procedures like EVL, sclerotherapy, injection therapy, dilatation of strictures, placement of SEMS, polypectomies etc. His expertise in the domain of diagnostic and therapeutic Colonoscopy lies in therapeutic procedures like dilatation and polypectomies. Furthermore, Dr. Shoukat is well-trained in liver biopsies and diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasonography techniques. His background in research activities and publications is both robust and extensive.

Dr. Shoukat actively lends his hands towards community health services. He has organized free health camps for the benefit of poor patients. He has participated in many camps where free upper GI endoscopic procedures were performed and free of charge services were offered to combat water borne infections like Hepatitis A and E. He also has raised awareness on issues concerning regular deworming of children and infectious diseases like Hepatitis B and C inorder to enlighten the masses on key health matters.
